April 7, 2025Tensions continue to rise in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as Indian police arrest two locals in Kupwara district over alleged pro-freedom activities.
Indian police have arrested two Kashmiris in the Kupwara district of IIOJK. The arrests took place in the Kralpora area during a routine security check (naka). The individuals have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Najar and Muneer Ahmad Sheikh.
Authorities claim to have found pro-freedom posters on the men’s mobile phones and have seized three phones in total. The two individuals have been charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a law often criticized for its potential to suppress dissent.
Further investigations are underway, although details regarding the nature of the charges and the evidence against the detainees remain scarce. The arrests highlight the ongoing political tensions in the region, where authorities continue to clamp down on freedom activities.
