Repression Won’t Silence Kashmir’s Freedom Struggle, APHC Warns India
April 2, 2025Srinagar, April 1 – The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned India’s rigid and violent policies, stating that they remain the primary hurdle in resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute peacefully.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, asserted that India cannot alter the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir through propaganda and repression. He emphasized that the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right to self-determination will persist until the implementation of United Nations resolutions, which explicitly reaffirm this fundamental right.
The statement also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists, who remain incarcerated in various Indian jails and detention centers across the occupied territory.
The APHC spokesman reiterated that Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and that all individuals imprisoned for advocating the freedom of their homeland are political prisoners. He stressed that such individuals cannot be held indefinitely or treated as criminals. Drawing parallels with other conflict zones, he noted that political prisoners are routinely released in disputed regions worldwide, yet Indian authorities continue to flout international norms by refusing to acknowledge or act upon these established principles.
The APHC urged the global community, including the United Nations and international human rights organizations, to take notice of India’s oppressive policies and to push for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with international law and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
