February 10, 2025 Off By Sharp MediaIn Jammu, a powerful protest took place demanding the restoration of IIOJK’s special status and statehood, calling for immediate action from Indian lawmakers.
A protest demonstration was held in Jammu to demand the restoration of special status and statehood to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The protest was organized by Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK), with workers rallying under the leadership of President Sunil Dimple.
The protesters urged Indian parliamentarians to restore the region’s special status and statehood during the ongoing budget session of the Indian Parliament. This call comes as the people of Kashmir continue to face significant political and social challenges following the revocation of Article 370 in 2019.
In a powerful message, the protesters warned of a complete shutdown across the occupied territory if their demands were not addressed. This threat underscores the growing frustration and determination among Kashmiris to see their rights restored.
During the demonstration, Sunil Dimple spoke passionately, stating that they were in active discussions with all political parties and organizations within IIOJK. The goal was to develop a united plan of action for future protests aimed at achieving their objectives.
Dimple also urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to resume the Darbar Move, an important administrative tradition in IIOJK. He called for this practice to restart by this April, believing it would symbolize a return to normalcy and self-governance for the region.
The protest highlights the ongoing desire of Kashmiris for autonomy and self-determination, as well as the growing unity among various political groups in the region. The calls for special status and statehood have become central to the ongoing resistance against Indian policies in IIOJK.
