At a time when Iran and Israel are trading missile barrages, the Indian government’s indifferent attitude towards the safety of students from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir studying in Iran has sparked deep concern among their families.

Alarmed by New Delhi’s silence and lack of communication regarding evacuation or safety measures for their children, distressed parents gathered at Karyappa Park in Baramulla town to stage protest over Modi government’s indifference. The protesting parents called for the immediate evacuation of their children trapped in Iran.

Thousands of students are right now stranded in Iran and are scattered at different places, they said. They lambasted the inaptness of the Indian embassy in at least bring all students at a single safe place before the evacuation. “The situation in Iran is worsening with each passing day. “The students are fearing the worst to come. Immediate action must be taken to evacuate the stranded students”, said one of the protesting parents.

Parents said their children are pursuing various courses in different educational institutions across Iran and mostly in Tehran city , and have been stuck there since the conflict between Iran and Israel started.
