Pakistani National Arrested at Indo-Nepal Border: A Case of Misunderstanding

Saifullah, 46, from Mardan, Pakistan, works with a security agency in Dubai. He has praised Nepali youth for their toughness, making them ideal recruits.
During a recent visit to Nepal for recruitment, Saifullah’s car broke down. He and his companions sought help at a workshop on the Indian side.
Indian police apprehended them during a border patrol. Despite presenting valid documents, including a Pakistani passport and UAE residency, unfortunately, the border police have highlighted the Saifullah’s arrest as a significant security catch.
The Indo-Nepal border, once informal, now faces additional checks due to COVID-19. Many locals cross without realizing the legal implications, as key checkpoints remain closed.
Saifullah’s family fears he might face mistreatment due to this misunderstanding. They argue that carrying valid documents contradicts allegations of espionage or terrorism.
This situation seems to be a case of unfortunate timing and innocent intentions rather than any malicious activity.
