Islamabad – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Indian government continues to use heavy-handed tactics to suppress political dissent in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), further curbing the fundamental rights of Kashmiris.

The Modi regime has increasingly weaponized laws to silence voices advocating for Kashmir’s freedom. The report highlights India’s growing digital crackdown, with authorities suspending more than 200 social media accounts of Kashmiris who were exposing the ground realities of the occupied region.

The report condemns the systematic censorship of Kashmiri voices, emphasizing that speaking the truth in IIOJK is met with harassment, arrests, and draconian legal charges. It further laments that India is erasing digital resistance by censoring social media platforms, ensuring that narratives exposing human rights abuses in the region are suppressed.

Rights groups have consistently raised alarms over the arbitrary arrests and imprisonment of Kashmiris for merely expressing their political opinions. Observers argue that the ongoing restrictions are part of a broader strategy to silence dissent and prevent any discourse challenging India’s illegal occupation.

The crackdown on digital spaces is viewed as an extension of India’s larger strategy of stifling free speech in Kashmir. Amid increasing international scrutiny, Kashmiris continue to resist India’s suppressive measures, reaffirming their struggle for self-determination despite relentless state oppression.
