Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of the National Conference (NC), has reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful and democratic struggle aimed at restoring the rights of the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Addressing a rally in Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam district, Abdullah urged the public to reject anti-Kashmir forces and questioned the ability of parties associated with the BJP to protect the unique character of the region.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the youth of IIOJK, Abdullah lamented the lack of employment opportunities, land encroachments, restricted freedom of expression, and the arbitrary detention of young Kashmiris in prisons outside the region. He emphasized the need for a peaceful and democratic movement to reclaim the democratic rights that have been eroded.

Abdullah asserted, “We have started a peaceful and democratic struggle for the restoration of our democratic rights. We were once sold like cattle… Today, we face economic and political slavery again, and it is the duty of every conscious citizen to protect our historical state.” He stressed that the struggle extends beyond individual grievances to encompass the entire nation, advocating for the release of all prisoners held outside J&K.

Accusing the BJP and its affiliates of attempting to weaken the National Conference, Abdullah urged voters to counter their schemes with their votes in the upcoming polls. The Islamabad-Rajouri parliamentary seat, which goes to polls tomorrow, comprises 18 assembly segments spread across Islamabad, Rajouri, Kulgam, Poonch, and Shopian districts.

Abdullah also criticized the BJP for its alleged anti-Muslim stance during election campaigns across India, highlighting the broader implications of communal politics on the country’s social fabric.

To summarize, Omar Abdullah’s rallying cry underscores the ongoing struggle for justice and restoration of rights in IIOJK. By advocating for a peaceful and democratic approach, he seeks to mobilize public support against oppressive policies and safeguard the region’s unique identity and heritage. As the political landscape evolves, Abdullah’s call for resistance resonates with those who aspire for a future marked by dignity, freedom, and equality in IIOJK.
