Marking India’s Independence Day as Black Day: A Seminar against India’s Illegal Occupation of Kashmir

In Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Democratic Hurriyat Front recently hosted a seminar to commemorate India’s Independence Day as Black Day. This event was designed as a protest against India’s ongoing occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

The seminar featured Javed Badhanvi, the Minister of Rehabilitation for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as the chief guest. Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Chairman of the Democratic Hurriyat Front, presided over the proceedings.

During the seminar, speakers condemned India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir as illegal and immoral. They highlighted the Kashmiri people’s rejection of Indian control and their ongoing sacrifices in the struggle for freedom. The speakers argued that despite India’s severe repression, the Kashmiri spirit remains unbroken. They stressed that the fight for freedom continues resolutely.

Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal expressed appreciation for the consistent support from Pakistan and its people. He praised Pakistan’s strong advocacy for the Kashmiri cause on the international stage.

The seminar included speeches from various other figures, including Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Gauhar Kashmiri, Numberdar Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq, Muhammad Younus Mir, Maroof Qureishi, Muhammad Iqbal Awan, Nazir Abdul Hanan, Raja Muhammad Arif, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Chaudhry Tanzeer Iqbal, Chaudhry Jamal, Sardar Ishtiaq Awan, and Ashfaq Ahmad.

The event highlighted the enduring tension and the Kashmiri determination to achieve freedom from what they view as foreign domination. The speakers’ passionate appeals reflect a broader sentiment of resistance against what they perceive as ongoing injustice and a call for international recognition of their struggle.
