Man paraded with shoe garland on police van in Jammu

A person was paraded with a garland of shoes on the streets and made to sit on the bonnet of a moving police vehicle in Jammu district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The person was a resident of Kashmir, and the police claimed that he is a notorious criminal. He was paraded by police officer with a garland of shoes on the streets and also made to sit on the bonnet of a moving police vehicle outside a hospital in the heart of the Jammu city, an official said.

The officer claimed that the man robbed an individual a couple of days ago.

This was the second incident when any person faced such a situation in Jammu city, this month.

Earlier on June 11, three persons involved in a shooting incident in Gangyal chowk on the outskirts of Jammu were beaten up in full public view after they were caught and taken to the police station.

Meanwhile, human rights activists and civil society members criticized the Indian police action as “unprofessional, unbecoming, and called for a stern action. They said Indian police behave like a gang, instead of being the custodians of law.
