Kashmir’s Black Day: The Dark Dawn of India’s Brutal Occupation, Betrayed Promises, and Denied Self-Determination
October 25, 2025For the world, 27 October 1947 is just a date. For Kashmiris, it is a deep, painful wound. On this “Black Day,” they mark the moment Indian forces first landed in the region, beginning a dark chapter of occupation, betrayal, and suffering. This day was not freedom; it was the start of a brutal military occupation that denied Kashmiris their natural destiny.
A Natural Bond Betrayed
The tragedy of 27 October is a complete violation of the people’s will. The Kashmiri people, by history, culture, and faith, were bound to Pakistan.
► An Unbreakable Bond: Kashmiris share the same religion, culture, and way of life as Pakistan. Their hearts have always beaten with Pakistan.
► A Destiny Denied: The natural desire of the Kashmiri people was to join Pakistan. This was their clear and undeniable destiny.
The Brute Force of Indian Invasion
Ignoring the people’s clear will, India chose violence. Instead of respecting their choice, the Indian state launched a military invasion to seize the territory by force.
► An Act of Pure Aggression: India’s entry into Kashmir was not based on any right; it was a hostile invasion using pure military force to capture land against the people’s wishes.
► The Start of an Illegal Occupation: This act marked the beginning of India’s illegal occupation. It was a dark day where military power was used to crush a people’s right to choose.
The Great Betrayal of the Plebiscite
As the conflict grew, the matter went to the United Nations. Faced with global attention, India pledged that the people would decide their future in a free and fair vote.
► The United Nations’ Promise: The UN Security Council passed multiple resolutions confirming the people of Kashmir must decide their own future through a fair vote.
► India’s Broken Promise: India agreed to these resolutions. Yet for over seventy eight years, it has used every tactic to avoid this promise, showing it never intended to let Kashmiris choose.
A Land Under Military Control
The result of this occupation is that the valley is now one of the most militarised zones on earth. India rules by the gun, not by agreement, using pure force.
► An Open Air Prison: India has placed hundreds of thousands of troops in the region, with soldiers and checkpoints in every town, turning Kashmir into an open air prison.
► Tools of Suppression: The Indian government uses cruel collective punishments, including long curfews and communication blackouts, cutting Kashmiris off from the world.
Crushing the Voice for Freedom
To continue this illegal occupation, India wages a nonstop war to crush the Kashmiri voice for freedom. The state has used every cruelty to silence the call for ‘Azadi’ and self determination.
► A War Against Innocent People: This is a war against all Kashmiris. India’s forces target everyone, from children and women to the elderly, to create a climate of pure terror.
► All Weapons of Oppression: India has used every weapon on Kashmiris, from pellet guns that blind children to harsh laws that allow detention without trial.
► Silencing Every Voice: Any voice that rises for freedom, from a journalist, activist, or citizen, is immediately and brutally silenced by force, threats, or prison.
A Record of Indian War Crimes
This military siege has caused a human rights disaster. For decades, Indian forces have operated with total freedom from punishment, protected by laws that shield them from their crimes.
► Killings and Torture: The history of Indian rule is written in blood. It includes mass killings, unjust detentions, fake encounters, and widespread torture in interrogation centres.
► Economic and Cultural Destruction: India has destroyed the Kashmiri economy, seized property, and attacked their identity. Their education, books, and religious practices are all targeted to break their will.
► Changing the Population: Under the Modi government, this has become a dark project. India is illegally settling non local Hindus in the region to permanently change its population.
A Question for Humanity
The situation in Kashmir raises a basic moral question for the world. All people have the right to live in freedom and with dignity, so why are Kashmiris denied this right?
► Where is the Justice: What kind of justice allows the world to watch as one nation is denied the rights all others have?
► Under What Law: By what international law or moral principle does India justify its occupation? There is none. India’s rule is based on military power alone, violating every democratic and human principle.
Conclusion: The World’s Moral Failure
As Kashmiris mark another Black Day, the core issue remains. The international community, including the UN, has failed to move beyond empty words.
► A Call for Action: These global groups must listen to the Kashmiri voice and take real steps to provide justice.
► India Must Be Held Accountable: The world must stop pleasing India and hold it responsible for its war crimes. India must be new punished for its cruelty in crushing a people’s desire for freedom.
► An Unbreakable Spirit: Despite everything, India has failed to break the Kashmiri spirit. Their call for self determination remains strong, proving that force can never defeat a people’s will to be free.
