Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary urges a united front to expose India’s atrocities against Kashmiris and push for the resolution of the longstanding Kashmir conflict.

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary, has once again highlighted the ongoing crisis in Jammu and Kashmir, condemning India’s systemic oppression of the Kashmiri people. According to Chaudhary, India has not only violated human rights but has also engaged in acts of genocide for the past seven decades. His remarks underscore the urgency of a collective response to end the suffering of Kashmiris and hold India accountable for its actions in the region

In a recent meeting with Chaudhary Tariq Farooq, the Secretary-General of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) AJK chapter and a former senior minister, Barrister Sultan called for a unified effort among the political factions of AJK and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK). He stressed that these groups must work together more aggressively to raise their voices and demand international intervention in the Kashmir issue. The call for unity reflects the growing frustration within AJK over the lack of a substantial resolution to the Kashmir conflict, which has persisted since 1947.

Chaudhary emphasized that political differences should not hinder the common goal of addressing the humanitarian crisis in Jammu and Kashmir. With India’s ongoing repression in the region—including widespread human rights abuses, forced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings—he believes that a collective political effort is necessary to garner international attention and pressurize India for a resolution. As part of this strategy, Barrister Sultan stressed the need to raise the Kashmir issue on global platforms, including the United Nations, where global action can be pursued more effectively.

During the meeting, Chaudhary Tariq Farooq acknowledged Barrister Sultan’s tireless work in bringing global awareness to the Kashmir issue. Farooq praised his leadership in advocating for Kashmiris, calling it crucial in ensuring that the world does not overlook the suffering of the Kashmiri people. Farooq further highlighted the importance of continuing to draw attention to the human rights violations occurring in Indian-administered Kashmir, where innocent civilians continue to bear the brunt of India’s military occupation.

The two leaders also discussed the political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The region, which has its own government but is deeply influenced by Pakistan, has seen shifting political dynamics in recent years. There is a growing sense of urgency to address both local political issues and the broader Kashmir conflict. The stability of AJK’s governance is seen as critical to ensuring the success of any broader political efforts related to Kashmir.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to intensifying efforts to draw international attention to the Kashmir issue. The ongoing struggle for Kashmir’s self-determination remains one of the most protracted and unresolved conflicts in the world. With India’s repeated assertions of control over Jammu and Kashmir and its refusal to acknowledge the region’s right to self-determination, the people of Kashmir continue to endure immense hardship.

Barrister Sultan and Chaudhary Farooq’s united front reflects a critical step forward in addressing the Kashmir crisis. Their call for a coordinated political effort to advocate for Kashmiris and highlight India’s crimes on the international stage is essential for generating meaningful support. The need for unity and strategic action in the face of India’s brutal occupation is clear: only through concerted global pressure can there be hope for a peaceful resolution and an end to the suffering of the Kashmiri people.
