India weaponizes its judiciary to crush Kashmiri resistance—global silence fuels this brutality

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned India’s relentless judicial terrorism targeting Kashmiri detainees in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Indian prisons.

In a scathing statement from Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas called on the United Nations, human rights organizations, and the International Court of Justice to address the systemic abuse of political prisoners.

Prominent Kashmiri leaders, including Masarat Alam Butt, Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, and Asiya Andrabi, are among the thousands enduring prolonged illegal detentions. These individuals face inhumane treatment in both IIOJK and far-flung Indian jails.

The Modi-led Hindutva government uses manipulative tactics to prolong their imprisonment. Denied basic rights like medical care, legal access, and fair trials, detainees suffer blatant violations of domestic and international law.

India employs agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) to intimidate, harass, and coerce prisoners, further entrenching its oppressive grip on dissent.

Minhas highlighted the government’s refusal to provide evidence for charges, leaving many detainees languishing in custody for years without judicial process. The legal façade is a calculated tool of repression.

The plight of women detainees such as Shabroze Bano and human rights defenders like Khurram Parvez underscores the government’s indiscriminate targeting of Kashmiris advocating for justice.

India’s strategy is clear: crush the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination through systematic persecution. These actions reveal a state intent on silencing any opposition to its occupation.

The APHC urged the international community to break its silence and hold India accountable. Global inaction only emboldens India’s ongoing human rights violations and deepens the suffering of the Kashmiri people.

Judicial terrorism is not just a legal injustice but a deliberate act of psychological and political warfare. Without urgent intervention, India’s unchecked oppression will continue to fuel instability in the region.

Minhas stressed that addressing the Kashmir dispute is essential for restoring peace and justice. The world must act now to end India’s judicial tyranny and uphold the rights of the Kashmiri people.
