India’s Desperate Tactics by Targeting the Legacy of Syed Ali Gilani in IIOJK

India’s crackdown on Kashmiri resistance only fuels the unbreakable resolve of a people committed to freedom.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Hurriyat groups have denounced the recent raids by Indian police on the residence of Syed Ali Gilani and the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat office in Srinagar. The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, along with the Democratic Freedom Party, Muslim League, and Tehreek-e-Khawateen, issued statements accusing India of maintaining its brutal occupation through force, with no real victory in sight. These groups emphasized that the Kashmiri people’s dedication to the cause of freedom, inspired by Gilani and other martyrs, remains unshaken and will reach its “rightful and logical conclusion.”

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) also condemned the raids, labeling them as a sign of India’s growing panic. They pointed out that Syed Ali Gilani had been under house arrest for over a decade before his death, and that the raid on his residence symbolized India’s desperation in the face of an unyielding resistance from Kashmiris fighting for their right to self-determination.

On Wednesday, Indian forces stormed Gilani’s house in Hyderpora, seizing his personal belongings, books, and documents. Simultaneously, the police targeted the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat office in Mominabad, Hyderpora, breaking its lock and confiscating crucial materials. Both raids were led by the SHO of Budgam police station, with the authorities increasingly cracking down on any expression of Kashmiri resistance. India’s declaration of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat as a banned organization only highlights the regime’s desperation to silence the voices of dissent in Kashmir.

These actions represent not just an attempt to intimidate but also to erase the legacy of leaders like Gilani, whose life and martyrdom continue to inspire the freedom struggle. However, the more India tightens its grip, the stronger and more resolute Kashmiris become. The raids have only reinforced the fact that India’s occupation is marked by oppression, fear, and failure to crush the indomitable spirit of the Kashmiri people.
