The month of February witnessed yet another wave of state-sponsored terror in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as Indian forces intensified their crackdown on civilians, political activists, and freedom fighters.

Indian troops, continuing their brutal campaign in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), martyred 10 Kashmiris in February alone. According to data released by the local sources, two of the victims were killed in custody. These killings left one woman widowed and three children orphaned, adding to the suffering of families already devastated by ongoing oppression.

Throughout the month, Indian forces, including the Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Operation Group, and notorious agencies like Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and State Investigation Agency (SIA), arrested 840 civilians. Those detained were mostly political activists, youth, traders, and students, many of whom were booked under draconian laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Public Safety Act (PSA). These black laws allow prolonged illegal detentions and are frequently used to silence dissent.

These killings and arrests occurred during 192 cordon-and-search operations and house raids carried out by Indian forces across the occupied region. The increasing use of such military tactics has led to a climate of fear in IIOJK, where innocent civilians are targeted under the guise of counterterrorism operations.

Additionally, intensifying its colonial-style suppression, the highly communal and corrupt administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, under the direct control of Indian Home Minister, seized sixteen properties, including homes and land. These illegal confiscations are part of the BJP-led Indian government’s strategy to economically strangle Kashmiris and crush their aspirations for freedom and self-determination.

The latest wave of violence, arrests, and property seizures reflects India’s ongoing war crimes in IIOJK. Despite these oppressive measures, the spirit of resistance among Kashmiris remains unbroken, as they continue their struggle against occupation and injustice.
