The people of Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to face fear and uncertainty as Indian forces ramp up aggressive military operations in the region.

Indian troops have once again heightened military activities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), launching a large-scale cordon and search operation (CASO) in Shopian district. This latest operation began earlier today in the Habdipora area, sparking fresh concerns among local residents.

Security forces reportedly surrounded the entire area, blocking entry and exit points, and began house-to-house searches. The operation remained ongoing at the time of the latest updates, leaving the people of Shopian in a state of anxiety.

This is not an isolated incident. Over recent years, Indian forces have frequently carried out similar search operations across various districts of IIOJK. Under the guise of maintaining security, these operations have often resulted in harassment, illegal detentions, and even destruction of civilian property.

Local sources report that during such operations, residents—especially young men—are subjected to intense scrutiny. Mobile networks and internet services are commonly disrupted, further adding to the communication blackout and civilian hardship. The psychological impact of these repeated operations has left the population living in constant fear.

Shopian district has long been a focal point of resistance against Indian occupation, which has made it a frequent target of military crackdowns. The Indian government justifies these actions by citing the presence of armed groups, but rights organizations and local leaders argue that such heavy-handed tactics primarily aim to suppress dissent and intimidate the population.

The recent operation in Habdipora is seen as part of India’s broader strategy to maintain its grip over the region. Since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, the human rights situation in IIOJK has worsened considerably. The Indian authorities have increased military presence, curbed civil liberties, and implemented measures to alter the region’s demography.

Political analysts and human rights advocates have consistently called on the international community to intervene and address these ongoing violations. The lack of accountability and transparency in these operations raises serious questions about the treatment of Kashmiris under Indian rule.

The residents of Shopian, like many across IIOJK, continue to demand peace, justice, and the right to live without constant military interference. As tensions escalate, global bodies such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are being urged to take meaningful steps to ensure the protection of human rights in the region.
