In a continuing display of collective punishment, Indian forces razed the home of a Kashmiri freedom fighter under the pretext of “security concerns.”

In yet another act of repression, Indian police today demolished the house of a Kashmiri freedom fighter in the Islamabad district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to a police statement, the demolition was carried out in coordination with the district administration. The targeted property was located in Rekha Hassan Pura, where police claimed an “illegally constructed” house and a terrace were dismantled.

The house belonged to Haroon Rashid Ganai, who police allege is associated with a banned organization. Authorities justified the demolition by accusing Haroon of involvement in activities deemed harmful to India’s national security and sovereignty.

This latest incident reflects a broader strategy by Indian forces to use property demolitions as a punitive measure against Kashmiri activists and their families. Such actions have drawn sharp criticism from human rights defenders, who view these demolitions as clear violations of international law and an attempt to intimidate the local population.

The move has further highlighted the oppressive tactics employed in the occupied territory, where residents face daily harassment, arrests, and destruction of property under vague allegations and controversial laws.
