Indian Forces Escalate Repression in IIOJK
December 1, 2024Indian forces have intensified their oppressive measures in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by launching brutal cordon-and-search operations in Srinagar, targeting innocent civilians.
Paramilitary troops, police personnel, and operatives from the infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided areas including Batamaloo and Zainakot HMT, leaving residents terrorized. These raids are part of India’s ongoing campaign to suppress the Kashmiri population under the guise of counterterrorism.
The homes of Obais Riyaz Dar in Batamaloo and Sahil Ahmad Bhat in Zainakot were raided during these operations. Indian forces, notorious for their lawless conduct, seized house documents, mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices, depriving residents of basic security and privacy.
These actions exemplify the systematic harassment of Kashmiris, designed to break their will and dismantle their social fabric. Under the pretext of security, such raids serve as tools of psychological warfare against an already oppressed populace.
The involvement of the NIA in local raids underscores the extent of India’s militarized control over IIOJK. This draconian approach, characterized by house invasions and the confiscation of personal belongings, reflects a blatant disregard for human rights and civil liberties.
The strategy is clear: disrupt, displace, and demoralize. By confiscating essential devices and documents, Indian forces aim to isolate individuals, curtail communication, and create an atmosphere of constant fear.
These actions are not isolated incidents but part of a broader agenda to crush dissent and deny Kashmiris their right to self-determination. Despite international laws protecting civilians in conflict zones, India continues to act with impunity in IIOJK.
The silence of the global community only emboldens these oppressive measures. It is imperative for human rights organizations and world leaders to address these violations and demand accountability from India.
Despite these invasive crackdowns, the resilience of the Kashmiri people remains unshaken. Their determination to fight for justice and freedom is a testament to their unyielding spirit in the face of relentless aggression.
The world must no longer turn a blind eye to the plight of Kashmiris. The ongoing repression in IIOJK is not just a regional issue; it is a human rights crisis that demands immediate attention and action.
