Indian Forces Arrest Dozens amid Widespread Search Operations in IIOJK

Indian forces have intensified their oppressive campaign across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), targeting civilians in relentless cordon-and-search operations. The recent wave of arrests and raids showcases the brazen abuse of power under the guise of “security operations.”

Personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Operations Group launched operations in several districts, including Thanamandi, Darhal, Kalakote, and Manjakote in Rajouri, as well as Basantgarh and Kadwah in Udhampur. Innocent civilians in areas like Kupwara, Baramulla, and Pulwama are being subjected to harassment, interrogation, and unlawful detainment during these so-called operations.

Documents were seized, residents questioned, and fear spread across the valley. This coordinated crackdown is not about maintaining peace but enforcing control through intimidation. Indian forces have weaponized their presence to suppress dissent, treating civilians as suspects and targeting them indiscriminately.

Adding to the oppression, Indian police have ramped up checkpoints at Srinagar’s entry points, intensifying frisking and monitoring. Uptown areas like Batamaloo and downtown regions are now hotspots for random checks, creating an atmosphere of constant surveillance and fear among the people.

At least 30 individuals have been arrested under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) during house raids and searches. The PSA, infamous for its misuse, allows authorities to detain people without trial, a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. Detainees are routinely transferred to prisons far from their homes, further isolating them from legal and family support.

The current operations are emblematic of India’s broader strategy in IIOJK: to crush the spirit of resistance by criminalizing Kashmiri identity and silencing voices of dissent. These actions go beyond routine security measures—they represent a calculated effort to erase Kashmir’s cultural and political identity.

The international community must not ignore these atrocities. The use of draconian laws, unchecked raids, and arbitrary arrests is a clear violation of international human rights norms. India’s systemic oppression in IIOJK deserves global condemnation and intervention.

Every checkpoint, every raid, and every unlawful arrest signifies another step toward the complete militarization of the valley. This isn’t law enforcement; it’s a brutal occupation aimed at stripping an entire population of their dignity and rights.

Justice for the victims of India’s tyranny in IIOJK is long overdue. It’s time for global powers and human rights organizations to hold India accountable for its actions before the situation deteriorates further.
