Indian farmers, led by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have announced plans to intensify their protests. They will burn effigies of the BJP on August 1 and hold tractor marches across the country on August 15 to demand a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.

Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) leader Sarvan Singh Pandher addressed a press conference, highlighting the farmers’ ongoing struggle. He noted that the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march will reach 200 days on August 31 and urged people to gather at Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab-Haryana border.

The farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest march, which started from the Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border, demands a law ensuring MSP for crops. This march has seen significant participation from farmers, especially from Punjab. They have been marking significant milestones, including the recent 100-day mark of their protest at Shambhu and Khanauri border points.

A joint statement from Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and KMM outlined their plans. Farmers will march to district headquarters across the country on August 1 and burn effigies of the BJP. On August 15, they will hold tractor marches in various districts to press their demands further.

The ‘Delhi Chalo’ march began on February 13, with farmers heading to Delhi to demand MSP for crops. However, Haryana Police halted their progress with barricades, including cemented blocks, on the Ambala-New Delhi national highway. This led to clashes between farmers and police personnel, and the farmers have since been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points.
