Indian Fake News Industry: Experts Denounce Claims of Pakistani Commando Infiltration in Kashmir as Propaganda
August 1, 2024Political experts have dismissed recent claims by Indian media that 600 Pakistani SSG Commandos have infiltrated Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They argue that this narrative is baseless propaganda intended to divert attention from India’s failures in addressing the grievances of the Kashmiri people.
The experts pointed out that New Delhi’s tough fencing along the Line of Control, enhanced by advanced surveillance systems, makes it nearly impossible for such a large number of personnel to cross undetected. This casts serious doubt on the validity of the Indian media’s claims.
Furthermore, they emphasized that India’s narrative ignores the historical context of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination, which dates back to the Partition. The United Nations recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory, and multiple resolutions call for the region’s people to exercise their right to self-determination.
Labeling the Kashmiri freedom movement as “foreign-funded militancy” is seen as an attempt to discredit the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Experts argue that this tactic is also a distraction from the recent electoral setbacks faced by Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India.
The experts stressed that the youth in IIOJK are motivated by a genuine desire for freedom, justice, and equality, not by foreign agendas. They urged the Indian government to acknowledge the indigenous nature of the Kashmiri freedom movement and to engage in meaningful dialogue to address the long-standing demands of the Kashmiri people.
They warned that blame-shifting and propaganda will only worsen the situation. Instead, genuine efforts towards understanding and reconciliation are needed to pave the way for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
