Indian Brutality Continues in IIOJK: 20 Innocent Kashmiris Martyred in July
August 1, 2024In July, Indian troops martyred twenty Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The violence persisted, marking another tragic month for the region.
Reports reveal that six of the victims were killed in fake encounters or while in custody. These acts of brutality left a woman widowed and two children orphaned, highlighting the devastating impact on families.
The month also saw the arrest of 216 civilians, including Hurriyat leaders, activists, and lawyers. Prominent figures such as Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Advocate Nazir Ahmed Roonga were among those detained under harsh laws like the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Indian troops conducted 237 cordon and search operations during July. These operations resulted in the damage of three houses and other structures, further deepening the crisis in the region.
Around a dozen people were injured when Indian police and paramilitary forces used excessive force. The ongoing brutality in Kashmir continues to fuel the urgent need for justice and peace in the region.
