India Stripping IIOJK of Resources and Identity through Confiscation Drive: APHC
December 18, 2024Kashmir’s struggle against India’s systemic exploitation and oppression demands urgent global attention—freedom and justice are long overdue.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the BJP-led Indian government for depriving the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of their resources and rights. This is not merely a political battle but a fight for freedom against India’s illegal occupation.
APHC leaders in Srinagar have accused New Delhi of imposing a Hindutva-driven proxy rule through bureaucrats led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, backed by the Indian military establishment. The administration, they argue, is systematically exploiting IIOJK’s resources, seizing properties, and stripping the region of its economic potential to alter its demographic structure.
IIOJK’s economy is in ruins. Unemployment has skyrocketed, and the youth face despair. Experts brought from India are being deployed to seize jobs and businesses, further marginalizing Kashmiris. This economic subjugation is part of a larger agenda to erode the region’s identity and autonomy.
The APHC meeting also condemned the confiscation of homes and properties belonging to pro-freedom leaders and activists. These actions, they assert, are designed to crush resistance and demoralize the people. However, the Kashmiri population remains undeterred in its struggle for the right to self-determination.
IIOJK is now the most militarized zone in the world, with over 900,000 Indian troops stationed in the region. The Indian forces operate with impunity under draconian laws like the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). These laws enable unchecked human rights violations, turning IIOJK into one of the most dangerous regions globally.
APHC leaders have called upon the international community to intervene. They stress that resolving the Kashmir dispute is critical for global peace and security. World powers must address the plight of the Kashmiri people and hold India accountable for its actions.
The APHC also demanded the release of all illegally detained leaders and activists, including Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, and Nayeem Ahmed Khan. These individuals continue to languish in prisons across IIOJK and India, enduring inhumane conditions.
Paying tribute to Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas on his death anniversary, the APHC recognized him as a stalwart of the Kashmir freedom movement. His unwavering dedication to the cause of Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan remains an inspiration for the resistance.
IIOJK’s fight is not just against occupation but also against a systematic erasure of its identity and rights. The international community must act before it’s too late.
