IIOJK Protest, Displaying Posters to Expose Indian Army’s Brutalities
June 7, 2024In response to a suffocated media landscape, the people of Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have turned to grassroots resistance, exposing the Indian army’s atrocities through makeshift posters. These bold displays, plastered on poles and walls, highlight the brutal realities of occupation despite censorship under India’s Modi regime.
The posters, seen throughout Srinagar and surrounding areas, reveal the Indian army’s promotion of Hindutva ideology, targeting ordinary Kashmiris and local police. One incident, highlighted by the posters, occurred on May 29-30, when an Indian army team stormed a police station in Kupwara district. They brutally tortured police officers investigating a case of army high-handedness, resulting in severe injuries to at least four Special Police Officers and the abduction of one cop.
Human rights groups and political leaders in the territory have condemned the Indian army’s actions, demanding an immediate investigation and accountability. This incident underscores the lack of safety for the police force amidst Indian aggression.
