Hindutva Extremism And India The “Land Of Lord Ram”
September 24, 2025India today is under the grip of Hindutva extremism. The Bharatiya Janata Party and its parent body Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have turned politics into a project of Hindu only rule. Leaders openly say India is the land of Lord Ram. This slogan is not faith. It is a political weapon to erase minorities, silence voices of protest and promote Hindu majoritarian power. From the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya to the inauguration of the Ram Mandir by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from the words of Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to selective rules on loudspeakers, every part of public life is now being reshaped to suit Hindutva. What once was extremist talk is today the language of the state. India has moved away from its secular promise and is turning into a Hindu fascist state where minorities live in fear and plural traditions are being erased step by step.
Lord Ram As A Political Tool
Lord Ram, once a religious figure, has been made into a political emblem. The claim that India is the land of Lord Ram has been used as a way to tie national identity with Hindu pride and deny the diverse reality of the country.
Ayodhya Verdict And Ram Mandir 2019 to 2023:
- In 2019 the Supreme Court gave the site of the demolished Babri Masjid to Hindus to build the Ram Mandir.
- BJP leaders celebrated the verdict as a historic win for Hindus and declared it the start of a new India.
- From 2019 to 2023 temple construction became the centre of BJP campaigns, rallies and ceremonies.
- “Ram Rajya” was promoted as the future of India, where Hindu majority power would dominate.
Modi’s New Era 2024:
- In January 2024 Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
- He declared the opening of the temple as the start of a new era for India.
- It was presented not only as a cultural event but as a moment of national rebirth under Hindu pride.
- For minorities it was a clear sign that the state had fully adopted Hindutva politics.
Erasing Minorities Through Language
Hindutva leaders are using words not to build peace but to erase difference. They make claims that deny minorities their independent faith and history and push them into Hindu narratives.
Assimilation Claims:
- BJP leaders claimed Muslims are descendants of Lord Ram, erasing their separate identity.
- These words are presented as unity but in truth they are pressure to accept Hindu roots.
- Such claims deny the right of Muslims and Christians to live as distinct communities.
- It is cultural pressure used to promote Hindu supremacy.
Spread To Other Parties 2025:
- In August 2025 Delhi CM Rekha Gupta of AAP repeated the BJP line by linking her duty as CM to building Ram Rajya.
- She said Lord Ram had given her the responsibility to guide Delhi.
- Her words show that even parties outside BJP are now using Hindutva language.
- Extremism has crossed party lines and become mainstream in Indian politics.
Rules Twisted To Favour Hindu Practices
Hindutva extremism is not only in big events. It has entered the daily life of people. Laws are applied selectively to allow Hindu practices but restrict Muslim practices.
Loudspeaker Rules:
- Indian law bans loudspeakers after 10 pm but Hindu festivals are allowed to continue till midnight.
- Hindu temples use loudspeakers freely during Navratri and Ganapati while the Muslim azan is attacked as noise.
- This double standard proves that law is used against minorities and bent for the majority.
- The public sound and space of cities are reshaped to reflect Hindu dominance.
Impact On Minorities:
- Muslim rituals are pushed out of public spaces while Hindu rituals are promoted.
- Courts and police look away when Hindu groups break the law.
- The law that should be equal for all has become a tool of Hindutva politics.
- Minorities are being reduced to second class citizens in their own homeland.
Hindutva As State Policy
The signs of Hindutva are now the official policy of the state. Once extremist ideas are today accepted in courts, in parliaments and in chief ministers’ offices. Dissent is silenced and critics are branded as traitors.
Steps Toward A Hindu State:
- Hindu mythology is presented as national history while the plural past is erased.
- Anyone opposing Hindutva is attacked as anti Hindu or anti national.
- Gandhi’s vision of Ram Rajya as justice and equality has been replaced with Hindu only rule.
- Citizenship is being tied to Hindu religion, not equal rights under law.
Human Rights Abuse:
- Minorities face harassment every day through selective laws and biased policies.
- Violence against Muslims and Christians is ignored or excused.
- Leaders shield Hindu mobs and encourage their violence.
- Global rights groups have condemned India for systematic violations of human rights.
The Global Duty To Respond
India tells the world that it is the largest democracy. The reality is the opposite. Hindutva extremism is spreading in all parts of public life. This is not only a threat to India’s minorities. It is a danger to regional peace and global stability.
Global Action Needed:
- The world must call Hindutva extremism what it is, a threat to peace.
- Sanctions should be placed on Indian leaders who use hate and religion for power.
- Democracies must not reward India while it destroys its minorities.
- Silence will only give Hindutva leaders more freedom to expand their extremism.
Conclusion
India is no longer the secular republic promised in its constitution. Under the BJP and RSS it has been turned into the land of Lord Ram where politics is driven by Hindu symbols and extremism is promoted as policy. The Ayodhya verdict, the construction of the Ram Mandir, Modi’s talk of a new era, Rekha Gupta’s remarks and selective use of laws all prove how deep Hindutva extremism has gone.
This is not about culture or faith. It is about hate and control. India has become a Hindu fascist state where minorities are erased, dissent is silenced and mobs are protected. The world must recognise this reality and respond. If Hindutva extremism is allowed to continue, India will not only destroy its minorities but also damage peace and stability across the region.
