From California to Tarn Taran: India’s Baseless Allegations Against Pakistan Exposed

August 8, 2025 Off By Sharp Media

India has once again resorted to blaming Pakistan for its internal unrest, continuing a familiar pattern of scapegoating. The latest attempt to link a domestic police operation in Punjab with Pakistan mirrors previous baseless claims made after the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and other unrelated incidents abroad. Without presenting any evidence, India routinely projects political dissent, particularly from Sikhs, as foreign-sponsored extremism.

Instead of addressing growing internal discontent, especially in Punjab and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), India falsely accuses Pakistan to distract from its governance failures. The Khalistan issue is now being used not as a matter of national security, but as a tool to mislead global opinion and suppress minority voices.

Misusing the ISI Narrative Without Proof

India’s repeated invocation of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) lacks credibility. Each time unrest emerges in Punjab or among diaspora Sikhs, Indian media and officials immediately blame ISI involvement. This narrative, frequently repeated without evidence, has never been verified by any international legal or investigative body.

Names such as Harvinder Rinda and Lakhbir Landa are used to strengthen unverified claims, despite the absence of proof linking them to Pakistani institutions. These allegations serve to distract from India’s internal political, economic, and social failures, particularly its mishandling of Punjab. Blaming Pakistan remains India’s default strategy to deflect criticism and avoid engaging with the root causes of local discontent.

Distorting Facts About the FBI Operation

India’s portrayal of the United States’ Summer Heat Initiative as part of a counterterror operation linked to Pakistan is a gross misrepresentation. The FBI launched this operation to address gang-related crimes within American cities. Official statements made no reference to Pakistan, terrorism, or ISI.

Despite this, India falsely framed it as part of a cross-border terror plot. Such distortion damages the credibility of international cooperation and undermines serious global efforts to combat actual threats. By manipulating unrelated law enforcement actions to support its anti-Pakistan narrative, India continues to promote misinformation over facts.

India’s Contradictory Position on Separatism

India routinely supports separatist narratives abroad while crushing similar movements within its own borders. It provides platforms to anti-Pakistan elements and glorifies voices critical of Pakistan, especially in Balochistan. Yet, when its own minorities demand rights, it responds with repression and labelling.

This contradiction exposes India’s selective approach. The Khalistan movement, largely pursued through peaceful advocacy by the Sikh diaspora in the West, is rooted in democratic principles. Instead of engaging politically, India brands such movements as threats, highlighting its unwillingness to accept dissent. India’s claims of victimhood ring hollow when it actively interferes in the internal matters of neighbouring countries.

Political Misuse of Interpol and Anti-Terror Laws

India’s misuse of international legal mechanisms is widely acknowledged. Interpol Red Notices issued against Sikh figures are increasingly ignored or rejected for lacking evidence or reflecting political bias. These notices serve more as instruments of political persecution than law enforcement.

Domestically, India employs the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to arrest dissidents, restrict speech, and criminalise political opposition. Global human rights organisations and United Nations experts have criticised the UAPA’s abuse. India’s reliance on legal repression shows a growing tendency to replace dialogue with coercion, both at home and abroad.

Democratic Dissent Framed as Terrorism

The Khalistan movement abroad is political, not criminal. Recent arrests in the United States were based on standard criminal charges such as kidnapping and conspiracy. No evidence links these individuals to terrorism or to Pakistan. Nevertheless, India insists on framing these as acts of extremism backed by foreign hands.

This narrative deliberately erases the political nature of the movement. India’s real fear lies in the increasing support for Sikh rights and identity, particularly in countries where democratic freedoms allow such advocacy. Labelling this as terrorism is an effort to silence legitimate political voices and intimidate diaspora communities.

India’s Global Disinformation Strategy

India’s campaign to shape global perception through false narratives is now widely visible. Whether in IIOJK or Punjab, the pattern is the same: suppress the media, arrest activists, and circulate misleading stories. This same strategy is now used against Sikhs abroad, aiming to discredit political expression under the pretext of national security.

India projects a false image of national unity by attempting to criminalise dissent. However, this effort is failing, as more international observers recognise the deliberate spread of misinformation and the growing suppression of minorities under the guise of counter terrorism.

Pakistan Must Demand Accountability

Pakistan must not remain silent in the face of these fabricated claims. It must actively highlight India’s misuse of legal channels, its propaganda efforts, and its targeting of minorities at global forums. Independent inquiries should be sought into India’s false narratives, disinformation campaigns, and violations of democratic norms.

These communities are not engaged in unlawful activity; they are exercising their rights under democratic law. Pakistan should continue exposing India’s propaganda and demand transparency and accountability.

Conclusion: A Pattern the World Can No Longer Ignore

From California to Tarn Taran, the pattern is unmistakable: whenever India faces dissent, it blames Pakistan; whenever minorities demand rights, they are labelled as extremists; whenever internal unrest grows, an external conspiracy is fabricated. This repeated narrative is no longer convincing.

The Khalistan issue is not a terror threat but a political demand. India’s reaction to it reveals its discomfort with democratic expression and its inability to tolerate minority voices. Pakistan must continue to challenge India’s baseless claims and promote truth at every platform. The global community must no longer allow falsehoods to replace facts. It is time for the world to recognise the real issue: India’s deepening crisis of democracy, and its growing fear of dissent. Truth must prevail.
