Farooq Abdullah Condemns Direct Rule, Calls for Restoration of Democratic Rights in IIOJK
August 2, 2024Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, has strongly condemned the imposition of direct rule from New Delhi, highlighting its devastating impact on the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a recent address to a party delegation in Srinagar, Abdullah expressed deep concern over the absence of a democratically elected government in the region. He pointed to the daily struggles faced by residents, including lack of electricity, water shortages, crumbling infrastructure, and dilapidated hospitals.
“The youth, faced with rampant unemployment, have been driven to the brink,” Abdullah stated. He criticized the Modi government for failing to deliver on promises, as the region continues to grapple with numerous issues.
Abdullah emphasized that IIOJK has been left in the hands of bureaucrats who are disconnected from the people they are supposed to serve. Unlike elected representatives, these officials are not accountable to the public. He urged for a return to democratic governance to address the pressing needs and concerns of the people in IIOJK.
