Indian police detained several Congress leaders and activists on Thursday as they attempted to march to the Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor, in Jammu, Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest aimed to express concerns over increasing incidents of violence and the Modi regime’s failure to curb them. The delegation of more powers to the Lieutenant Governor was also a key issue.

Police barricades stopped the Congress leaders and workers, but some managed to break through before being detained. This protest is part of a larger campaign by the Congress party to mobilize public support on these issues ahead of the upcoming elections for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
