Civil Society and Leaders Amplify IIOJK’s Unyielding Fight for Self-Determination
January 6, 2025Kashmiris refuse to be silenced, commemorating decades of struggle for self-determination despite unrelenting oppression.
On Kashmir’s Right to Self-Determination Day, leaders, activists, and the Kashmiri diaspora united at Kashmir House in Islamabad to honor the relentless struggle for freedom in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Organized by The Voice of Justice for Kashmir and the Kashmir Liberation Cell, the event brought together prominent figures like Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and former President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan.
Speakers condemned India’s enduring military oppression, emphasizing the unfulfilled promise of a plebiscite by the United Nations. They decried the international community’s indifference, holding India accountable for systemic abuses and denying Kashmiris their basic rights.
The gathering drew attention to the immense sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and their unwavering resolve to secure self-determination. Addressing the participants, leaders stressed that no amount of repression would break Kashmir’s spirit. The diaspora, including Dr. Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai and Lord Mayor Qurban Hussain, voiced strong opposition to normalizing relations with India while Kashmir remains under occupation.
Parallel to this event, the Kashmir Policy Research Institute, alongside the Pakistan Army, hosted a seminar featuring key figures like Brigadier Sohail Tariq and Dr. Raja Muhammad Sajad Khan. The seminar underscored the need for international intervention, urging the United Nations to step in and end India’s oppressive rule in Kashmir.
Participants reaffirmed that the sacrifices of Kashmiris would not go unnoticed. Until justice is delivered and Kashmir achieves independence, the fight will persist.
