Birmingham: British Kashmiris staged a protest outside the Indian Consulate in Birmingham to denounce the ongoing repression by the Indian government in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The demonstrators carried placards and raised slogans condemning the continued occupation of Kashmir and the systematic oppression of its Muslim-majority population. The protesters voiced their solidarity with the people of Kashmir, calling for an end to India’s human rights violations in the region.

The protest was led by Fahim Kayani, President of the All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee and Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK. In his address to the gathering, Kayani strongly criticized the policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, accusing it of silencing dissent, persecuting Kashmiri Muslims, and violating international laws.

Kayani emphasized that the international community has a responsibility to hold India accountable for its actions in Kashmir. He reiterated the demand for the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as guaranteed under United Nations resolutions.

The protest marked yet another demonstration by the diaspora highlighting the plight of Kashmiris and urging global attention and intervention. The participants resolved to continue raising their voices until justice and freedom are secured for the people of IIOJK.
