BJP’s Defeat in IIOJK Elections Proves Kashmiris’ Resolve for Freedom: APHC
October 9, 2024The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has once again asserted Kashmiris’ unwavering demand for the enforcement of UN resolutions. This call aims to secure the long-overdue right to self-determination in the Kashmir dispute.
APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement from Srinagar, denouncing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) humiliating defeat in the farcical elections held in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This defeat clearly illustrates that Kashmiris are fed up with India’s oppressive regime and will not compromise their right to self-determination.
The APHC views these elections as nothing more than a scripted drama designed by India to reinforce its illegal occupation. The election results expose the undeniable truth: Kashmir is still an international issue.
Minhas emphasized the necessity of adhering to the UN’s January 5 resolution as the foundation for a lasting solution to the Kashmir crisis. He bluntly stated that genuine peace in South Asia can only emerge when the Kashmir issue is resolved justly, reflecting the true will of the Kashmiri people.
For over seventy years, India has thwarted any fair resolution to the Kashmir problem. Military force, he argues, cannot quell the righteous struggle of the Kashmiri people. This stubborn oppression will not last forever; the resolve of Kashmiris is unbreakable.
The APHC vehemently condemned Modi’s actions on August 5, 2019, which blatantly violated UN resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir. They maintain that Kashmiris possess the right to seek a resolution that aligns with their aspirations.
Furthermore, the international community cannot remain an uninvolved spectator; it has a duty to intervene and facilitate a just resolution to ensure lasting peace in the region.
The statement called for an immediate cessation of military suppression and the violent actions perpetrated against the Kashmiri people. The plight of Kashmiris demands urgent attention; their voices cannot be silenced by force.
Global powers must recognize the gravity of the situation and assist in achieving a just resolution to the Kashmir dispute. Only then can the long-standing tension in South Asia begin to ease. The APHC’s call to action is clear: end the violence, recognize the rights of Kashmiris, and uphold international law.
It’s high time the world wakes up to the reality of Kashmir. The struggle for self-determination is not just a regional issue; it is a global responsibility. The time for hollow gestures and empty promises is over. The people of Kashmir deserve better.
