BJP’s Caste Tyranny: Dalits Face Systematic Oppression and Social Apartheid in Modi’s India
February 14, 2025 Off By Sharp MediaIn Modi’s India, Dalits endure not only systemic discrimination but a brutal caste apartheid, as their humanity is systematically denied, and their suffering is ignored by those in power.
In India, a country that proudly proclaims to be the world’s largest democracy, a dark truth remains: the caste system is alive and thriving, especially under the rule of the BJP. Dalits and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) continue to suffer relentless discrimination, social exclusion, and state-backed oppression. Modi’s government has not only ignored this injustice but has actively fueled it, maintaining a cruel caste hierarchy.
Dalits, often treated as second-class citizens, are still shackled by 98 forms of untouchability, denied basic human dignity and rights. The BJP, a party known for promoting Brahmin supremacy, stands complicit in their suffering, protecting caste-based oppression while Dalits face daily humiliation. From being denied entry into temples to being brutalized for simply celebrating their own culture, the oppression is unyielding.
OBCs, though higher in the caste hierarchy than Dalits, are also subjected to systemic discrimination. These historically marginalized communities continue to face an uphill battle, as their plight is often overlooked by the authorities. Hindu radicalism thrives under BJP’s rule, leading to a society where Dalits are living as untouchables, and social apartheid remains deeply entrenched.
Despite the government’s claims of promoting equality, caste-based violence and exclusion run rampant. In “New India,” Dalits are denied access to education, and some are even forced to convert for survival under the threat of anti-conversion laws. The BJP’s slogan of “Sabka Saath” (Together with all) rings hollow, as their policies perpetuate the harsh caste-based discrimination that continues to tear apart Indian society.
The brutal reality is that caste-based terror is not only a historical issue—it is happening now. According to reports, over 50,900 crimes were committed against Scheduled Castes in 2021 alone. This includes 967 murders, 3,893 rapes, and 1,286 cases of grievous hurt. Dalit women, in particular, bear the brunt of this violence, with 7.64% of rape cases involving Dalit women. The numbers speak for themselves: this is not just an injustice; it’s a war against the most vulnerable.
The situation is especially dire in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, which account for 54% of caste-based atrocities. These states are a grim testament to the extent of state-sponsored caste terrorism, where Dalits face daily humiliation and violence. The legal system, rather than offering justice, often serves as another arm of casteist violence, with 10,108 cases of atrocities against Dalits still pending in court.
Modi’s government, despite claiming to represent the people, remains silent in the face of this ongoing genocide. Hindutva ideology has transformed India’s caste system into an engine of ethnic cleansing, and the world remains largely indifferent. Dalit bodies are used as battlegrounds for caste supremacy, with women being especially vulnerable to sexual violence and brutality.
The shocking reality is that this is not just data; it is a war against human dignity. The international community’s silence in the face of such atrocities only emboldens the perpetrators. This isn’t just an issue for India; it is a global human rights crisis that demands urgent attention.
