BJP Behind Attack on Indian Air Force Convoy as Election Stunt: Charanjit Singh Channi
May 6, 2024Former Indian Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi has made a startling accusation, suggesting that the recent attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district was a pre-election stunt orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Channi condemned the attack, denouncing it as a cynical manipulation of public sentiment for electoral gain.
Describing the incident as a political manoeuvre rather than a genuine terrorist attack, Channi accused the BJP of playing with people’s lives and exploiting tragedies for their own political agenda. “These are all stunts and not terrorist attacks. These are nothing but BJP’s pre-poll stunt. There is no truth in it,” Channi asserted, highlighting the dangerous consequences of such calculated actions.
Channi went on to suggest a pattern of political manipulation by the BJP, claiming that similar incidents tend to occur during election periods. “Whenever elections come, such stunts are played. Similar attacks happened during the last general elections,” he remarked, casting doubt on the authenticity of the recent attack and questioning the integrity of the ruling party. The allegations levelled by Channi underscore the heightened political tensions and polarization in India, particularly in regions like Jammu and Kashmir, where security concerns intersect with electoral dynamics. His statements reflect a broader scepticism regarding the motives and tactics of the ruling BJP, highlighting concerns about the politicization of security issues and the potential consequences for public safety.
