Bihar Election: MGB Challenges NDA on ‘Outsider’ Control, Lawlessness, and Fake Job Promises
October 28, 2025Bihar’s political stage is set for a major fight in the 2025 assembly elections. A united opposition, the Mahagathbandhan (MGB), has formed to challenge the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Headed by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, this alliance is challenging the government’s record. This election is being shaped as a direct fight between Bihar’s people and control from Delhi, based on the opposition’s claims of the Modi government’s failures.
The Forming of Bihar’s Opposition Front
The MGB has formed as a serious political group, uniting key parties at a press conference in Patna. This move creates a single front to fight the BJP. The alliance has also clearly announced its leadership team to show it is united.
🔵 A Coalition of Key State Parties: The grand alliance includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
🔵 A Clear Leadership Team: The MGB has clearly named Tejashwi Yadav as its only Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2025 state elections.
A Campaign Platform Built on Welfare Pledges
The MGB campaign is built on promises that address the economic worries of the people. This plan aims to build support from the ground up, focusing on real benefits for local leaders.
🔵 Promises for Local Government Leaders: A central promise is to double the honorarium for Panchayat representatives.
🔵 Support for Former Representatives: The alliance has also promised to start a new pension scheme for former representatives.
🔵 A Defined Deputy CM Candidate: To show stability, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani has been declared the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidate if the coalition wins.
The ‘Insider Versus Outsider’ Argument
A main theme for the MGB, as stated by Tejashwi Yadav in his India Today interview (28-10-2025), is that Delhi is ruling Bihar by remote control. He has been very clear in calling the BJP’s top leaders ‘external forces’.
🔵 Targeting the BJP’s Central Leadership: Mr. Yadav has directly said that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah are ‘outsiders’ and are not from Bihar.
🔵 A Call for Bihar’s Self-Rule: This argument is meant to stir up local pride. The MGB insists that Bihar will not be governed by ‘Outsiders’.
Using Political History as a Weapon
The opposition is using past events to damage the BJP’s image. The MGB argues that the BJP has a history of betraying social justice leaders and Bihar’s backward communities.
🔵 Recalling the Fall of Karpoori’s Government: Mr. Yadav has publicly accused the BJP of being the party that brought down the government of Karpoori Thakur.
🔵 Questioning Support for Backward Castes: The MGB has also claimed that the BJP ‘can’t do welfare’ for the backward castes and has ‘opposed Quotas’ many times.
Exposing the Collapse of Law and Order
The MGB is strongly attacking the NDA’s claims of good government by pointing to a failure of law and order. The opposition argues that under the BJP-backed Nitish Kumar government, crime is high and people are unsafe.
🔵 Pointing to National Crime Data: Mr. Yadav has cited the NCRB to claim that BJP ruled states have higher rates of crime.
🔵 The Unsafe Conditions in Bihar: The MGB claims women are unsafe under the Nitish Govt. It also alleges that over 70,000+ murders have happened under the NDA, with some ‘murders by government protect’.
🔵 A Promise of Security: In contrast, the MGB has stated there will be ‘no compromise on law and order’ if they are elected.
The Reality Behind ‘Good Governance’ Claims
The opposition is taking apart the NDA’s platform, calling it a government of false promises. The MGB claims that the Modi government has repeatedly lied to the people of Bihar.
🔵 Accusations of ‘Blatant Lies’ by the PM: Mr. Yadav has been very direct, accusing the Prime Minister of ‘blatant lies’ and saying the BJP government made ‘fake promises’ to Bihar.
🔵 Failures in Administration: The MGB has pointed to ‘rampant paper leaks’ under Nitish as proof of his government’s failure, claiming there were ‘no paper leaks under RJD’ and that they ‘sought transparency’.
The Central Debate on Jobs and Development
The main issue for the MGB is what it calls the Modi government’s failure to solve unemployment. The alliance has made creating jobs its main promise, highlighting the BJP’s alleged economic neglect of the state.
🔵 Defending the 2.5 Crore Job Promise: Tejashwi has strongly defended his big promise of 2.5 crore jobs. He insists this is a real solution to what the people want, which is Jobs and Vikas (development).
🔵 Criticising Gujarat-Focused Policies: The opposition alleges that the Prime Minister only ‘sets in factories only in Gujarat’. They argue this policy hurts Bihar and forces its youth to leave for jobs.
Conclusion: A Showdown Over Trust and Promises
This Bihar election is becoming more than a normal political fight. The MGB has framed it as a final test of the NDA’s rule, which it describes as a time of broken trust and a ‘Jugal Raj under Nitish’.
🔵 A United Front Against a Divided NDA: The MGB is promoting itself as ‘cohesive’, claiming all ‘seats bargain’ issues are ‘sorted’. This is compared to the NDA, with Mr. Yadav asking, “Have you ever seen NDA partners together?”
🔵 A Clear Choice for Voters: The opposition is asking the people of Bihar to make a clear choice. It offers a vision of local government focused on jobs and honesty, against the NDA’s record. The alliance’s final message to its opponents is to “Fear from God before lying”.
