APHC Urges International Action to Address Kashmir Dispute
August 19, 2024The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has highlighted the unresolved Kashmir dispute as the central cause of regional tension. Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, a spokesman for the APHC, issued a statement from Srinagar, calling for urgent international intervention.
Minhas urged the United Nations and major global powers to prevent India from escalating the already volatile situation in the region. He condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime’s decision to grant domiciles to non-Kashmiris, which he views as an attempt to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a settler colony.
The APHC contends that India’s actions are designed to marginalize and eventually eliminate the indigenous Kashmiri population. Minhas asserted that the ongoing detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists will not force the movement into submission.
The spokesman also called on local political parties and leaders in IIOJK to abandon what he described as “Indian slavery” and support the Kashmiri struggle for political justice. He warned of an existential threat facing Jammu and Kashmir and its people if the current situation persists.
Minhas emphasized that dialogue among all relevant parties—India, Pakistan, and the authentic Kashmiri leadership—is the most viable solution to the longstanding Kashmir issue. This approach is seen as essential to achieving a resolution that respects the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
