Advocate Minhas emphasized that living nations honor their martyrs by upholding their mission and pledging to continue their struggle for freedom at any cost.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has paid homage to Sufi Mohammad Akbar, the founder of Mahaz-e-Azadi, and Shams-ul-Haq, a distinguished Islamic scholar, on their martyrdom anniversaries. In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas highlighted the significance of remembering the sacrifices made by these figures for the Kashmir cause.

Advocate Minhas emphasized that living nations honor their martyrs by upholding their mission and pledging to continue their struggle for freedom at any cost. He described Sofi Akbar as a principled freedom fighter who never wavered in his dedication.

Akbar courageously opposed Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s signing of the controversial 1975 Sheikh-Indira Accord, which Minhas termed a political betrayal. To further his vision for freedom, Akbar established Mahaz-e-Azadi, an organization committed to carrying forward the legacy of the 1931 martyrs. Minhas noted that Akbar drew inspiration from the political philosophy of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, which influenced many Kashmiri resistance leaders.

The APHC spokesman also paid tribute to Shams-ul-Haq, portraying him as a brilliant and devout figure who embodied the values of the Islamic movement in Kashmir. Shams-ul-Haq was celebrated for his strong character, intellectual depth, and commitment to the collective cause of his people. Minhas reiterated that the ultimate tribute to these martyrs is to remain steadfast in the pursuit of their goals and to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. He called on the Kashmiri people to remember their legacy and renew their resolve to continue the struggle for freedom.
