APHC Condemns Continued Persecution and Detentions in IIOJK
August 16, 2024The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns over the ongoing persecution and detentions of Kashmiris amid extensive cordon and search operations in Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which is under Indian brutal occupation.
In a recent statement from Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the actions of Indian forces. He emphasized that despite the presence of nearly one million Indian troops, the Kashmiri people have bravely resisted attempts to subdue their quest for freedom and self-determination.
Minhas criticized the Indian authorities for their treatment of APHC leaders, activists, and youth, who are being held unlawfully. He demanded their immediate and unconditional release, denouncing the use of fabricated charges as a means to keep them imprisoned.
The APHC’s statement underscores the dire situation faced by those detained. It stresses that there is no legal or moral basis for such prolonged incarceration. The organization asserts that the struggle for freedom is a matter of utmost importance to the people of Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting their deep commitment to achieving their goals despite harsh repression.
Advocate Minhas also highlighted the resilience of the Kashmiri people, asserting that their determination remains unshaken in the face of oppressive measures. He reaffirmed that the will of the people cannot be broken, despite the severe challenges they face.
In addition to condemning the Indian government’s actions, the APHC called on the international community to take notice of the ongoing human rights violations. They urged global pressure on India to cease these abuses and fulfill its international obligations, particularly regarding the holding of a plebiscite as outlined by United Nations resolutions.
The APHC’s appeal highlights the broader implications of the conflict and seeks to galvanize international support in addressing the human rights issues in Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The organization’s demands for justice and self-determination reflect the continuing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their rights and freedom.
