Srinagar – In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the New Delhi-installed administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has seized the immovable ancestral property of senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Mohammad Farooq Rehmani.

The police, acting directly on the orders of the IIOJK LG, confiscated Mohammad Farooq Rehmani’s 33 kanals of land and residential property in the Onagam area of Bandipora district. The estimated value of the seized assets is reported to be 6.93 crore rupees.

The APHC strongly condemned this latest act of repression, terming it part of a broader strategy to economically and politically disempower Kashmiri leaders and activists advocating for the region’s right to self-determination.

It is worth mentioning that since the Modi government’s revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, there has been a sharp increase in the seizure of properties belonging to Kashmiris. These actions are widely seen as an attempt to alter the demographic composition of the region by transferring confiscated properties to non-Kashmiri Hindus. The policy is viewed as a deliberate move to suppress dissent and further cement India’s control over the disputed territory.

The APHC has urged international human rights organizations and global leaders to take cognizance of these unlawful seizures and press India to halt its oppressive policies in IIOJK. The resistance leadership reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom, despite intensified crackdowns by Indian authorities.
