The escalating arrests and violence in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have sparked international concern as human rights abuses continue to rise under Indian forces.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the recent surge in arrests targeting Kashmiri youth in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). According to APHC, these actions are part of an ongoing crackdown by Indian forces, fueled by the Hindutva agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government. The violence and detentions have left the Kashmiri population in a constant state of fear and uncertainty.

In a statement released from Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas highlighted the grave situation unfolding in the region. He stated that the repeated cordon-and-search operations and arbitrary arrests, carried out under draconian laws, have turned into an existential threat for the people of Kashmir. Minhas emphasized that the Kashmiri population continues to suffer under the oppression of India’s political agenda, which undermines their basic rights and freedoms.

Minhas also called for international intervention, urging global human rights organizations to hold India accountable for its actions in the region. He expressed concern over the continued violence and political injustice faced by Kashmiris, who are being subjected to severe repression. He emphasized that Kashmir remains a recognized international dispute, one that must be addressed through peaceful means as per the United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The APHC spokesman also called for an independent international investigation into the recent killings of 17 civilians in Rajouri and Kulgam. These incidents have sparked outrage, with many questioning the excessive use of force by Indian security forces. Minhas condemned these killings and called for justice for the victims and their families.

The situation in IIOJK, which has been a long-standing dispute between India and Pakistan, has escalated in recent years, especially after India’s controversial revocation of Article 370 in August 2019. This move, which stripped the region of its special autonomy, has led to widespread protests, clampdowns, and violations of human rights. The APHC has repeatedly warned that these actions will only deepen the unrest in the region and hinder any prospects for peace.

Minhas further urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and major global powers, to take a more active role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. He pointed out that the ongoing conflict not only destabilizes the region but also affects the lives of countless innocent people caught in the crossfire. The APHC believes that a peaceful resolution, one that respects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is essential for lasting peace in South Asia.

The APHC’s condemnation of the arrest spree and continued human rights violations in IIOJK highlights the urgent need for international attention and action. The situation remains dire, and the call for justice grows louder as Kashmiris continue to endure the consequences of India’s policies in the region.
