The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has fiercely criticized Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to IIOJK, calling it a deceptive attempt to distract from India’s ongoing human rights violations in the region.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the visit of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), describing it as a desperate attempt to divert attention from India’s severe human rights violations in the region. The APHC spokesperson, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, issued a statement from Srinagar, claiming that Shah’s tour is nothing more than a staged act designed to create a false image of normalcy in a region that remains under India’s illegal occupation.

According to Minhas, Shah’s presence in IIOJK is not only a political maneuver but also a direct insult to the people of the region, who are enduring constant repression for demanding the right to self-determination, a pledge that was made by the United Nations. He argued that the visit was intended to advance the anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim agenda of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological ally, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Minhas further criticized the visit, emphasizing that for Kashmiris, Amit Shah is viewed as a criminal figure due to his role as the chief architect of the brutal military operations carried out by Indian forces in the region. These operations have become a daily reality for the Kashmiri population, leading to further violence and suffering. The APHC leader pointed out that the ongoing military crackdown is designed to suppress any form of dissent and prevent the people of IIOJK from peacefully demanding their fundamental rights.

The APHC spokesperson also highlighted the fact that visits by Indian leaders, particularly those associated with the government’s oppressive policies, hold no meaning for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He claimed that such visits, including that of Amit Shah, are nothing more than propaganda tools aimed at distorting the true situation on the ground. For the people of IIOJK, the presence of such figures only serves to remind them of their continued subjugation and lack of political freedom.

Kashmiris have long been calling for their right to self-determination, as promised by the United Nations. However, instead of addressing the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people, India’s government continues to use military force and political stunts to suppress dissent. The APHC has consistently stated that the international community must not ignore the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK and should hold India accountable for its actions in the region.

The APHC’s stance on Amit Shah’s visit reflects the broader sentiment in IIOJK, where the population continues to suffer under India’s illegal occupation. The visit, according to the APHC, is a futile attempt to cover up India’s ongoing repression and to mislead the world about the true situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
