APHC Calls for Justice for the Illegally Detained Leaders in IIOJK
October 17, 2024In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has sounded the alarm over the deteriorating health of illegally detained leaders and activists. They demand immediate action for their release.
APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas voiced this concern in Srinagar. He highlighted the appalling situation of Hurriyat leaders imprisoned on fabricated charges in Indian and IIOJK jails. These leaders suffer from serious health issues while being denied essential medical care.
The prolonged detention of these individuals is nothing short of a human rights violation. Many have not even been presented in court, further compounding their unjust suffering. Among those detained are prominent figures like Masrrat Alam Butt and Muhammad Yasin Malik, whose names symbolize the struggle for Kashmiri rights.
The list of detainees also includes human rights activist Khurram Parvez and several lawyers, all trapped in various Indian prisons like Tihar and Jodhpur. Their unlawful confinement showcases the brutal nature of India’s approach to dissent in Kashmir.
Conditions in these jails are alarming. Reports indicate that the harsh environment is wreaking havoc on the physical and mental health of many detainees. Insha Jan, a notable name among them, is critically ill due to the absence of adequate medical attention.
The APHC is demanding that the international community take immediate notice of these human rights abuses. They urge global organizations to pressure India to release these unjustly detained individuals. Such calls for action are not just humanitarian; they are essential for justice.
Minhas asserts that India cannot silence the Kashmiri people through intimidation and repression. The continued denial of rights is a recipe for unrest. Ignoring the Kashmir issue won’t make it disappear.
A resolution to the Kashmir dispute is not just a desire; it’s a necessity for sustainable peace and development in the region. India’s stubbornness and unrealistic policies will not solve the underlying problems; they will only deepen the crisis.
