Agha Hassan Criticizes IIOJK Government for Failing to Protect Muslim Interests
April 8, 2025Agha Syed Hassan al-Mosavi al-Safavi condemns the IIOJK government’s repeated neglect of Muslim interests, warning that history will not forget its failure to uphold religious values.
Agha Syed Hassan al-Mosavi al-Safavi, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, has expressed deep disappointment over the Iindian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) government’s continuous failure to protect Muslim interests, despite leading a Muslim-majority region. In a recent statement, Agha Hassan criticized the government’s inability to address the concerns of the Muslim community, pointing out its repeated shortcomings in safeguarding religious and cultural values.
Agha Hassan stated that the actions of those in power are “utterly unacceptable,” particularly in their disregard for the awareness and wisdom of the people of IIOJK. He highlighted several key issues, including the revocation of Article 370, the Reservation Policy, the controversial Waqf Bill, and the sale of religious institutions. He lamented how these issues have been handled poorly, with the government failing to take a strong stand for the community’s rights and interests.
The senior leader particularly criticized the lack of robust opposition to the sale of religious institutions. Despite this being a crucial matter, it has been conspicuously absent from public discussions and legislative debates. He expressed disappointment that a regime that claims to uphold faith and religious values had chosen to abandon its responsibilities at critical moments, leaving the Muslim community vulnerable.
Agha Hassan also emphasized that the government’s focus on divisive issues, such as the alcohol policy and the Waqf Amendment Bill, has overshadowed its lack of commitment to Shariyat and other key religious matters. He stressed that history would not forget the government’s failure to stand firm on issues that truly mattered to the people of IIOJK.
The statement reflects the growing frustration among leaders and citizens alike regarding the IIOJK government’s disregard for the Muslim-majority population’s concerns. Agha Hassan’s remarks are a call for stronger leadership and greater accountability, urging the authorities to prioritize the welfare and values of the community.
