India’s Alleged Hindutva Colonization of IIOJK
December 22, 2023India’s actions in the region of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have long been a source of contention, with accusations of treating it as a colony since October 27, 1947. The deployment of Indian troops in Srinagar against the will of the Kashmiri people marked the beginning of what is claimed to be a decades-long policy of state terrorism.
Reports suggest that the dream of colonizing the region has been harbored by the Hindutva Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The report asserts that the Modi regime, in power since 2019, has intensified its state terrorism, using various oppressive measures to curb the freedom of the Kashmiris.
The alleged colonization campaign gained momentum after the abrogation of articles 370 and 35A, with the redrawing of electoral boundaries being a key strategy. The BJP government has been accused of implementing a dangerous game plan reminiscent of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land, creating colonial settlements in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The removal of Article 370, which granted special status to the occupied region, removed a barrier to India’s colonization efforts.
The reports claim that India has changed laws, granting state subjects, lands, and settlement entry to non-Kashmiri people, thereby altering the demographic composition of the region in violation of United Nations resolutions. It is emphasized that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is internationally recognized as a disputed territory, and India’s actions constitute a violation of international law.
With over a million military and paramilitary troops in the region, the report alleges that India has turned the disputed territory into a colony reminiscent of the Stone Age, where fundamental rights are denied. The delimitation plan, part of India’s alleged settler colonialism campaign, aimed to subjugate the Muslim majority and provide political advantage to the BJP.
The Modi-led Indian regime is accused of attempting to sow discord among the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, fostering an atmosphere of hatred to advance the communal Hindutva agenda of the RSS. Furthermore, the international community, including the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, European Union, and major world powers, is called upon to play a role in implementing the recommendations of the Russell Tribunal on Kashmir.
The international community is urged to hold India accountable for perceived injustices in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It contends that the only path to lasting peace in South Asia lies in granting the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination, as outlined in relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The situation remains complex, requiring international attention to address the concerns raised by the Kashmir Media Service and other entities.
