IIOJK: Two girls injured in Rajouri explosion

Jammu: Two girls were injured in an explosion in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The girls identified as Tasveer Kouser (10) and Saima Kouser (15) were injured in a low-intensity explosion in Doongi-Brahmana area of the district.

The girls suffered injuries in their hands after they fiddled with some unidentified substance while returning from school in Doongi-Brahmana area, officials said. Initially, it was believed that the girls had suffered burn injuries due to bursting of crackers but later the nature of injuries pointed towards low-intensity explosion, they said, referring to the severe damage caused to their fingers.

Following the incident, Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in the area, leading to the recovery of over two dozen detonators. Reportedly, the search operation in the area is in progress while the nature of the detonators and their sources is not known yet.

Meanwhile, one person identified as Bashir Ahmad died when a fire broke out in Jamalata area of Srinagar.
