In a recent statement, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has vehemently rejected the assertions made by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government, alleging that it is misleading the international community with false claims of peace returning to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC accuses the government of disseminating deceptive information following its unilateral and illegal actions on 5 August 2019.

According to reports, the APHC spokesperson, based in Srinagar, emphasized that rather than witnessing a restoration of peace, the Modi regime has intensified its efforts to oppress the Kashmiri population and exert control over the region since the controversial move in August 2019. The spokesman highlighted that these actions have only served to exacerbate an already volatile situation in the territory. However, he firmly stated that the Indian government’s militaristic approach cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ fervor for freedom.

In addition, the APHC spokesman paid homage to the Kashmiri martyrs, particularly those who recently fell victim to custodial killings in Poonch. He expressed the organization’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the sacrifices of these individuals would not be in vain. The spokesman also extended prayers for the swift recovery of all those who have been injured due to alleged torture by Indian troops in custody in Poonch.

Moreover, the APHC spokesperson urged the United Nations to take notice of what they describe as Indian state terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The organization called on the international body to impress upon New Delhi the need to take immediate steps toward holding a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson emphasized that such a plebiscite would empower the Kashmiri people to determine their political future independently.

The APHC’s stance underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and its skepticism toward the Indian government’s narrative of a peaceful resolution. The call for UN intervention and the demand for a plebiscite reflect the APHC’s commitment to securing the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people on the international stage. As the situation in the region continues to be a cause for concern, it remains to be seen how the global community will respond to the APHC’s appeal for intervention and support in addressing the longstanding issue of Kashmir.
