India’s Unlawful Moves in IIOJK: Abdul Rashid Turabi Calls for Global Action
March 19, 2025As human rights violations escalate in occupied territories worldwide, voices like Abdul Rashid Turabi’s grow louder, demanding justice and intervention.
Advisor on Kashmir Affairs to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Abdul Rashid Turabi, has strongly condemned India’s illegal maneuvers in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Since August 5, 2019, India has introduced policies aimed at altering the region’s demographic makeup. These actions include forceful land acquisitions and the unjust termination of Kashmiri Muslim employees from government roles.
Speaking at an iftar dinner organized by Engineer Arif Mughal, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Overseas Coordination Council, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Turabi shed light on the worsening situation in IIOJK. He briefed the attendees about the continued oppression faced by Kashmiris under India’s aggressive agenda.
Turabi specifically criticized the Modi-led government, exposing its broader strategy against Kashmir and the Muslim world. He pointed to a global trend of human rights abuses, drawing parallels between Israeli actions in Gaza and the Indian government’s suppression in IIOJK.
Highlighting the dire conditions in the occupied region, Turabi urged the international community and the United Nations to step in. He stressed the urgent need for immediate action to stop these violations and protect the basic rights of the Kashmiri people.
The gathering saw participation from various prominent community leaders, including Masood Puri, Raja Riaz, and Sardar Iqbal. Their presence emphasized the significance of international solidarity for the Kashmiri cause.
Furthermore, Turabi made a heartfelt appeal to the overseas Kashmiri diaspora. He encouraged them to rise above political divisions and unite in the struggle for Kashmir’s right to self-determination. He lauded the efforts of the Kashmiri community in Jeddah, especially their lobbying efforts within diplomatic circles and at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
However, he stressed that these initiatives need to be strengthened and expanded. Turabi believes that the combined efforts of overseas Kashmiris and supportive global allies can amplify the voices of the oppressed people of IIOJK.
