February 3, 2025 Off By Sharp Media

A recent conference in the UK has renewed calls for international pressure on India to address the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A conference hosted by the Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) emphasized the need for sustained international pressure on India to tackle the severe human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event, which was led by JKSDMI Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain, aimed to raise awareness and highlight the importance of continued global advocacy for justice for the Kashmiri people.

The speakers at the event stressed the urgency of global action to ensure that India upholds United Nations resolutions and protects the rights of Kashmiris. Many political leaders, community advocates, and activists joined the conference, united in their determination to push for Kashmir’s right to self-determination. They also called for stronger diplomatic engagement from the international community to hold India accountable for the ongoing human rights abuses in the region.

One of the key messages of the conference was the crucial role of the United Kingdom in influencing international discussions on Kashmir. British local leaders expressed their unwavering support for Kashmir’s cause, urging the UK government to take a more proactive role in pushing for a resolution. They called on UK lawmakers to raise the issue within parliamentary debates and diplomatic discussions, ensuring that the Kashmir conflict remains on the global agenda.

A highlight of the event was the announcement of the inaugural Kashmir Solidarity Week, which will take place in the UK from February 2 to February 11, 2025. This nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness about the human rights violations in IIOJK, while also mobilizing communities and parliamentarians across the UK to advocate for concrete actions. The week-long campaign will include events, discussions, and calls for greater international support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. It is seen as a major step forward in JKSDMI’s ongoing efforts to ensure that Kashmir remains a priority issue for global human rights organizations.

The conference concluded with a collective pledge from all attendees to continue their efforts for Kashmir’s self-determination. The gathering reaffirmed the need for persistent international advocacy, ensuring that the human rights violations in IIOJK do not fade from the global spotlight. This renewed commitment reflects the movement’s resolve to keep the issue of Kashmir at the forefront of international diplomacy and human rights discussions.

By bringing together key stakeholders and launching significant initiatives like Kashmir Solidarity Week, JKSDMI is continuing its fight for justice, emphasizing that the struggle for Kashmir’s right to self-determination will not be overlooked in the face of political challenges.
