Jammu Always Left in the Lurch by BJP: Farooq Abdullah

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of showing blatant disregard for Jammu’s development. According to him, the BJP has abandoned the region more, ignoring its basic needs and promises.

Abdullah raised several critical concerns during a recent speech in Srinagar. He pointed to deteriorating road conditions, unreliable power supply, and widespread unemployment as clear signs of the BJP’s neglect. These ongoing issues have severely hindered the region’s growth, yet the BJP remains indifferent to the suffering of the people.

The situation has worsened under BJP’s rule. The increasing number of toll plazas, job outsourcing, and unregulated mining activities have only added to the misery. These actions have further burdened the local population, creating a sense of exploitation rather than progress.

The most glaring failure, Abdullah argued, is the BJP’s failure to deliver on their promises. Where are the jobs, schools, hospitals, and roads that were pledged during their election campaigns? These unfulfilled promises have left the people of Jammu disillusioned and frustrated.

Abdullah also addressed the controversial discontinuation of the Darbar Move, a tradition that had been practiced for over a century. The Darbar Move involved the movement of the state government between Srinagar and Jammu, ensuring balanced attention to both regions. The BJP-led administration, under the lieutenant governor, halted this long-standing tradition in 2021, further deepening the divide between the two regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Darbar Move was a symbol of the historical importance placed on Jammu. By discontinuing it, the BJP not only disrespected a centuries-old tradition but also sent a message that Jammu’s concerns were no longer a priority for the central government.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s accusations reflect the growing frustration in Jammu over the BJP’s neglect. The region has been systematically ignored while the promises of development and progress remain unfulfilled. The people of Jammu deserve better, but under BJP’s rule, they continue to suffer.
