Mehbooba Mufti Warns India to Learn from Bangladesh’s Unrest

People’s Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has urged India to take a lesson from the recent turmoil in Bangladesh. She emphasized that neglecting the concerns of the youth can lead to disastrous consequences.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Mufti highlighted the unrest in Bangladesh, where violent protests over job quotas have thrown the country into chaos. These events ultimately forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to step down and flee the country.

Mufti described how thousands of protesters looted and vandalized Hasina’s official residence in Dhaka, setting her party offices ablaze as they celebrated her departure. She stressed that India should heed this warning and avoid similar unrest.

“When the youth are pushed to the brink, disappointed by rising inflation and unemployment, and feel helpless even after obtaining an education, a situation like Bangladesh’s can emerge,” Mufti stated.

She drew parallels between the situation in Bangladesh and that in Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where the youth face numerous challenges. According to Mufti, the youth in Jammu and Kashmir feel just as helpless as those in Bangladesh, and their struggles are compounded by oppression.

Mufti urged the Indian government to address the grievances of the youth before the situation escalates further. She warned that ignoring these issues could lead to unrest similar to what has been seen in Bangladesh.

In her remarks, Mufti highlighted the importance of learning from the Bangladesh crisis and taking proactive steps to address the needs and concerns of the youth in India, particularly in regions like Jammu and Kashmir.
