Rising Anti-Muslim Violence in India: Hindutva Ideology Under Modi’s Regime
July 1, 2024Under Narendra Modi’s premiership, India has seen a disturbing increase in anti-Muslim violence fueled by the rise of Hindutva ideology. This ideology promotes Hindu supremacy, leading to widespread persecution and systematic oppression of Muslims across the country.
The Modi regime has emboldened Hindu extremists, fostering a mindset that targets Muslims’ lives and properties. Today, Muslims in India face attacks, humiliation, and even murder under various pretexts. The situation is especially dire in states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where authorities have been demolishing Muslim homes and properties, effectively punishing them for their faith and culture. This blatant discrimination marks Muslims as second-class citizens, pushing them to the margins of society.
Indiscriminate violence against Muslims has shattered India’s secular image, revealing an extremist Hindu state. The systematic persecution under Modi’s regime calls for urgent international intervention to protect Muslims and other minorities from Hindu fascism. Modi’s policies, heavily influenced by Hindutva dictates, have created a perpetual state of fear for Muslims and other minorities in India.
Incidents of Muslims being killed or tortured for eating beef or transporting cattle highlight the extreme measures taken against them. Since Modi’s re-election in 2019, his government has pushed controversial policies that critics argue disenfranchise millions of Muslims, ignoring their rights and exacerbating their marginalization.
The world must recognize the gravity of the situation in India and take action to safeguard the rights and lives of Muslims and other minorities. The international community’s response is crucial in addressing the rising tide of religious intolerance and ensuring justice and equality for all citizens in India.
