PHC Facilitates Sikh Pilgrims’ Visits for Guru Arjun Dev Martyrdom Day
June 6, 2024The Pakistan High Commission announced that it had issued 962 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to enable their participation in events commemorating the ‘Martyrdom Day’ of Guru Arjun Dev.
As part of a bilateral protocol on visits to religious shrines, Sikh and Hindu pilgrims from India visit Pakistan annually, with Pakistani pilgrims reciprocating the gesture by visiting India.
“The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued 962 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in the annual festival scheduled on the eve of Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjun Dev to be held in Pakistan from June 8 to 17,” stated the High Commission.
During their visit, the pilgrims will have the opportunity to visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. Charge d’Affaires at the Pakistan High Commission, Saad Ahmad Warraich, extended heartfelt felicitations to the pilgrims and wished them a fulfilling yatra.
The Mission emphasized that the issuance of visas aligns with the government of Pakistan’s commitment to fully implement the Bilateral Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines of 1974.
This move underscores Pakistan’s dedication to promoting religious harmony and facilitating pilgrimages, fostering goodwill and strengthening people-to-people ties between India and Pakistan.
